CALL: Artist in Residence Award

Create and UCD Parity Studios in partnership with
UCD College of Social Sciences and Law, as part of CAPP

DEADLINE: Sunday 13 November 2016

Create and UCD Parity Studios in partnership with UCD College of Social Sciences and Law, is very pleased to announce the call for an artist in residence.

With the exciting new partnership between UCD Parity Studios and Create, this 2017 residency is further supported through Create’s Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme (CAPP) which is funded by Creative Europe. CAPP’s Residency Programme seeks to explore new models of arts participation and cooperation and encourages exchange of artist’s methodologies and practices in context.

This one year residency is offered to a professional artist. The residency facilities includes studio space at UCD Parity Studios, a fee of €7,000.00 and access to all of the lectures, research seminars and other resources of the College. Please note that the residency does not include accommodation.

The artist will have the opportunity to engage with staff in the College towards the creation of work on multifaceted social issues and challenges in contemporary society, across the myriad social, political, economic and material contexts of individual and collective life.

We are particularly interested in applications from artists who have developed socially engaged methodologies as part of their practice (whether in the process of production and/or dissemination).

The principal aims of the scheme are to support mutual exchange between the artist and College staff, students and researchers and to explore areas of research, current and prospective, through the lens of artistic practice.

CAPP Residencies

In 2016, CAPP will focus on residencies. The residencies will vary in scale and timeframe, and opportunities for artists to engage and/or apply for residencies will vary across the individual partners within the CAPP network. The principle aims of the residencies across the programme will seek to explore new models of participation and co-operation and encourage an exchange of artists’ methodologies, contexts and ideas. The learnings within the network from the residencies will offer a rich opportunity to consider the relationship between arts practice and social and community contexts comparatively across Europe.
